Welcome

This is the home page of a private site for Texas District Judges only. This is now the official website of the TADJ where district judges can communicate, collaborate, and just generally share info which might even include a good joke on occasion.

Important: it is the intent of the usage of this site that ONLY the JUDGE personally log into this site and use it. These are private, sensitive, judicial only discussions.

There is also a separate site at www.help.dajudge.us that is totally dedicated to help topics on how to best use this type of web site. That help site has recently been updated. Clicking that link will open the help site in a new browser window so that you can ALT-TAB between this site and the help site while learning different things. More help follows below.

You must be registered on the site, and logged in, to view the content. If you are not registered, look in the left-column menu for the registration link.

Having trouble logging in?

You can get an email with a new password and your username by clicking on the link "Request new password" in the left column menu. Very detailed help in a screencast is available.

To be notified of new content on this site: Check out my blog entry for detailed info about this important topic.

Some navigation basics

Clicking on the logo OR the site name will always bring you back to this page.
Clicking on Main Content in the TOP menu will take you to, the main content. You'll see two menus as the top, the little one at the very top being some special areas and the larger one being navigation by main "type" of content.

More Detailed Navigation

Now check the left column for navigating this site, or just click the 'main content' link in the top menu to go to the main page of content and just browse around..

For newer users you may want to first check the FORUMS for the help items which are the first topics under forums (see top menu). Most of the content on this site will be either threaded discussions in the forums or sharing of files, each of which functions can be accessed from the top menu.

You may also want to click on 'site map' (upper right) to get a sense of the overall content and structure of the site.

If you are new here you might want to read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) (drafting in progress!) but here is a quick tip on navigating and using the site.

There are four places to look for content:

  • Left column:
    • click on DIRECTORY. You'll get a page listing all of the topical categories.
    • or look for RECENT POSTS to get a listing of the most recent postings by others.
  • Top area:
    • There is another link there to the site DIRECTORY (map is the same thing).
    • MAIN CONTENT takes you to the front page of content regardless of whether it was a forum topic, a blog or other type of content.
    • FORUMS will present the topically organized forums (which are merely discussions presented in a threaded fashion).
    • FILES is a place to look for forms, sample charges, etc.
    • JUDGE LIST is just that, a list of the judges registered on this site.
  • Right column: the entire right-hand column will point you to the "most recent" or "most popular" or "newest" content. It's the "what's happenin' now" place on the site.
  • Search box: it's simple, just type a couple of words that should be in any relevant content and away you go. It's not as sophisticated as Google but it works.
ATTENTION NEW USERS -- Some things you should do to your account if you have not already done so:
  • Click on 'my account' (near upper right corner of the page)
    • scroll down and change your password to something you prefer.

    • scroll down further and CHECK the 'Personal Contact Form' so other users can email you without disclosing your actual email address.

    • click SUBMIT

    • Click EDIT again and fill in the data on the several profile tabs (Contact, Judicial Info, Personal Information). The fields marked with a red * are required. If your username is other than a variant of your true name then please fill in the signature block.

    • Click the 'My Notify Settings' tab and set yourself up to be notified of all added content, regardless of whether you had subscribed to it or not, if you wish. This enables you to stay in tune with all postings without having to check into the site all the time. The following settings are recommended: Master Switch ENABLED, New Content ENABLED, Content TITLE + TEASER, New Comments ENABLED.

  • (under construction) Read the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) -- you'll find a link to that in the left navigation column.
